Video Script for New App “Transit Watch”

At SEPTA we are focused on providing a safe and enjoyable ride and maintaining a secure transit system takes everyone’s participation. 

Customers are an important part of our safety program, offering additional eyes and ears to assist SEPTA Transit Police and now you can help our Officers more quickly respond to situations when you use our newest technology tool – SEPTA Transit Watch.

 SEPTA Transit Watch is a new mobile app for Apple and Android phone users – that allows you to discreetly and confidentially report security or safety issues directly to SEPTA Transit Police in less than 20 seconds.

From the app you can either CALL the police directly or you can SUBMIT information, including photos, with details about what you see.  If you’re sending a message, use the menu to select the type of report you’re submitting then select your location.  Please provide as much detail as possible – this will help the Transit Police and accelerate their response.  A Police Dispatcher may contact you by Direct Message  if more information is needed or to provide you with instructions on what to do next.

The app also has the ability to send out “Be On The Lookouts” or BOLO’s to customers regarding a person of interest, missing person, or criminal suspect.  If you see the individual from the BOLO you can discretely and confidentially contact the Transit Police through the app without engaging the person or alerting them to your presence.

SEPTA Transit Watch creates an important new two way channel of communications that makes it possible for customers and the Transit Police to connect, in real time, and this will enhance safety and security throughout the SEPTA Transit system. Thank you.
