A Message for Media/Elwyn Riders
The weather this morning brought heavy rains and high winds causing a 60 foot tree, from Non-SEPTA property to fall on our overhead power lines just south of Media Station, suspending trains and impacting service. As crews worked to remove the tree, shuttle buses were dispatched to transport passengers between Elwyn and Media Stations where they could take the train into the City. Since the tree has been removed, our Power Department has been working diligently to get the system back up and running and it is expected to be completed before the evening rush.
We recognize the combination of suspended trains, travel delays and the inconvenience of having to transfer to shuttle buses has created significant inconveniences for customers and SEPTA continues to work with contractors, to ensure the clearing of trees and brush along the right-of-way remain a key point of focus.
For service updates and information, be sure to check septa.org, our Twitter Service Alert for the Media/Elwyn Line, and local media outlets as news becomes available.
